Operation Transformation – ‘Ireland Lights Up’ 2024
Kiladangan GAA Club will be taking part in ‘Ireland Lights Up’ 2024. ‘Ireland Lights Up’ encourages GAA clubs across the 32 counties to light up and bring communities together to walk/run in a safe environment during the dark winter evenings. As always, a club participating will be showcased each week on RTE’s Operation Transformation.
The event will run every Wednesday from the 10th of January for six weeks on our community walking track in the GAA grounds in Puckane. Participants of all levels are encouraged to get involved.
Our first walk will take place on Wednesday 10th January at 7.30 pm on our walking track - it would be great to see a big crowd there.
Irish Life – ‘Every Step Counts Challenge’ 2024
In conjunction with ‘Ireland Lights Up’, we have also registered to take part in ‘Irish Life – Every Step Counts Challenge’ 2024. Irish Life are asking clubs to track a total of 4,000km over a five-week period (Jan 10th to Feb 12th). Irish Life will be giving away a combined €30,000 in club funding and every club that reaches the target will be entered into a draw for O’ Neill’s vouchers and other prizes!
Anybody taking part is asked to download the ‘My Life’ App and follow the instructions below so that steps are recorded on your smartphone/wearable tracker (Apple Watch, Fit-Bit etc.)
Step 1: Download the ‘My Life’ App here > Download – My Life App by Irish Life.
Step 2: Once you register, go to Social > Challenges > Munster GAA > Kiladangan GAA & Camogie Clubs
Step 3: (Optional) Link your wearable tracker to the ‘My Life App’. Fitness wearables are not necessary, having your iOS/Android device in your pocket will record your steps via the Health App. Further tracking information can be found here > My Life App by Irish Life – Tracking Information
*The steps challenge is for over 18’s only, but all are welcome to come and take part in the excercising.*
Please spread the word to all! The bigger the involvement the better!
