With this years group of U14 hurlers taking part in the North 'A' final this coming Saturday at 2.30 in Dolla, we look back to the clubs one and only North Under 14 'A' title which was won back in 2004.

Back in 2004, it took two attempts to beat Lorrha in the final. The first in Cloughjordan on  Sunday evening 5th September ended in a stalemate 0-5 each. Kiladangan led by a point in injury time but young Ciaran Duggan equalised. Paraic Kelly scored two points for Kiladangan from frees and Eanna Gleeson, Rory Whelan and Joe Gallagher got one each.

The teams were back at the same venue the following Wednesday evening. The drawn game had been close and exciting but the replay surpassed it. The sides were level in the closing minutes and extra time looked a certainty. Ruairi Gleeson was fouled out near the sideline but James McLoughneys free dropped short. Oisin Ingelbach won possession and snapped the ball over the bar from fifteen metres. Ingelbach then latched onto a poor puck out and again found the posts. Eanna Gleeson landed his fifth point from play to leave Kiladangan winners by 1-9 to 1-6. Eanna Gleeson was man of the match while brother Ruairi excelled at midfield and scored 1-2. There were scenes of wild jubilation as Kiladangan captain Joe Gallagher was presented the Martin Kennedy Trophy. The old Kiladangan and Tipperary stalwart would have been pleased.

The North champions went on to meet Knockavilla Kickams in the County Semi Final in The Ragg and had an easy 5-14 to 1-8 win. Paraic Kelly bagged 3-2 and Fergal Hayes and Michael Quinn a goal each. The other scorers were Eanna Gleeson (0-6), Ruairi Gleeson (0-4) and Rory Whelan (0-2).

Kiladangan met Moyle Rovers in the final in Holycross on Sunday 24th October. The two were no strangers having already clashed in the U14 Feile County Final in Thurles in late May. On that occasion, Kiladangan got off to a poor start and were 1-3 to 0-0 behind at half time. The selectors bought Emma Mulqueen into goals and sent Kian Hayes to full forward where he scored 1-1. Paraic Kelly was given a free role and he grabbed 1-2. Eanna Gleeson added a point for good measure. That Feile final ended 2-4 to 1-4 in favour of Kiladangan.

They got off to an equally poor start in the County final. The fell four points behind but fought their way back, particularly in the second half when they had the wind. But they were never able to get in front and Shane McCormack's goal for Moyle in the forty eight minute ultimately decided the tie. Kiladangan pressed strongly in the remaining minutes but couldnt overtake Moyle. It ended, Molye Rovers 1-9 Kildangan 0-9. Eanna Gleeson scored three points , Joe Gallagher and Paraic Kelly with two each whilst Fergal Hayes and Ruairi Gleeson got the remaining two.
