Senior Hurling
Well done to the Senior hurlers who earned a hard fought 0-15 to 1-11 win over Loughmore Castleiney last Saturday evening in the first round of the County Senior Hurling Championship. The game proved to be a tit for tat affair with very little between the sides for the 60 plus minutes. With the aid of the strong wind in the first half, Kiladangan created a number of goal scoring opportunities but failed to find the back of the Loughmore net. However, with half time approaching Kiladangan had a 2 point lead only for it to be cancelled out with a Liam McGrath goal on the stroke of half time to ensure a 1-5 to 0-7 half time lead for the mid men. The second half continued in similar vein with no more than a point separating the sides until the closing minutes when Kiladangan bought the lead to two points. Loughmore pointed their way back to level the game with an excellent Noel McGrath point from a line ball looked to of had sealed a draw between the sides. However Barry Hogans resultant puck out was caught by Ciaran Kelly and with the last puck of the game, the centre forward fired the ball over the bar to claim the spoils for Kiladangan.
The lads next game will be in the North Quarter final within the coming weeks.
Intermediate
Hard luck to the Intermediate hurlers who lost out to Golden Kilfeacle last Sunday morning in Kilcommon on a 1-13 to 1-17 scoreline in the first round of the County Championship. In what was a well fought contest, the West Tipperary side maintained the lead throughout with Kiladangan failing to claw back the deficit throughout the game with Golden’s accuracy from free’s proving to be the winning of the game. Darragh Egan was the Kiladangan goal scorer from the penalty spot with full teams and scorers available on the clubs website. The lads also take on Ballybacon Grange and Kilsheelan Kilcash with the top two from the group of 4 progressing to the knock out stages with the bottom placed team going to the relegation play off.
The lads attention now turns to the North Championship where they will take on Borrisokane this coming Friday 20th at 6.30 pm in Ballinderry.
