Best of luck to Willie Connors, Alan Flynn, Barry Hogan, David Sweeney and Darragh Egan as Tipperary take on Kilkenny this coming Sunday in the All Ireland Hurling Final. It’s Kiladangan’s biggest every representation on All Ireland Final day so here’s hoping for a Tipperary win.

Jim Egan Tournament

Well done to everyone involved in the hosting of the Jim Egan Memorial Tournament which took place last Saturday week ago whereby the teams of Tipperary, Cork, Kilkenny and Galway took part in an U16 tournament as preparation for the All Ireland U16 Hurling Championship with Tipperary defeating Cork on a 1-10 to 2-6 scoreline in the final with captain Jamie Duncan accepting the Jim Egan Memorial Trophy from Darragh Egan. DJ McGrath, Darragh Ryan and Paul Seymour were the Kiladangan players involved on the Tipperary team. Well done to all.

Sympathy

The club wish to express sympathy to the friends and family of Mary Donnelly (Borrisokane) – (mother to Martina Cleary and grandmother to club hurlers Matthew and Bill Cleary) who passed away recently. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis.

Under 12

Mixed fortunes in the north finals for our U12 teams in Toomevara last Monday. The Roinn D team got the day off to a great start with a dogged display against a strong Portroe side. It was a hard-fought win on a scoreline of 2-6 to 0-1 with Darryl White accepting the trophy on behalf of his teammates. Scorers for Kiladangan were:

Simon Cleary 1-2, Roisin Connolly 1-0, Noah Ducie 0-2(0-1f), Rian McGrath and Laoise Ryan 0-1 each.

The Roinn B team didn’t fare as well however against a strong Moneygall outfit. The lads fought hard from start to finish but Moneygall ran out winners in the end on a scoreline of 5-6 to 1-8. The goalscorer for Kiladangan was Diarmaid Fogarty.

This brings an end to the U12 season - a big thank you to the management teams for the work done with this group of players.

Attention now turns to the upcoming U13 and U11 plate competitions.

The U13s were at home to Lorrha yesterday evening with no result at time of going to press. While both U11 teams are away to Burgess this Thursday evening at 7.00pm.

Under 16

The U16s lost out to Roscrea in Roscrea last Monday evening in their final group game on a scoreline of 4-20 to 2-9. The draw for the knockout stages was kind to the team with them winning a bye to the semifinals, which will be played on Thursday evening 22nd August.
