Junior ‘A’ Championship
The Junior A hurlers drew with Nenagh Eire Og last Friday evening on a 1-11 to 0-14 scoreline with Eoin Gleeson grabbing the Kiladangan goal. The lads will take on Kilruane in the 3rd round next Saturday evening at 7.30 pm in Nenagh.
Minor Hurling
The minor hurlers travelled to Kilkenny yesterday to take part in the Paddy Mullen memorial minor tournament hosted by James Stephens GAA club. With just the bare 15 togging out, the lads defeated Coolderry on a 4-12 to 2-7 scoreline in the first round. Then in the semi final, they defeated Ballyboden St Enda's on a 1-12 to 1-7 scoreline with Eoghan Sharkey grabbing the goal for Kiladangan. They took on a strong James Stephen's side in the final and after a first half playing against the wind, they faced a 1-2 to 1-7 deficit at half time. The lads produced an excellent 2nd half performance and clawed back the deficit to 2 points when influential full forward Dan O'Meara left the field with an ankle injury and the game swung back towards James Stephens favour and the hosts went onto win on a 1-11 to 2-14 scoreline. Hard luck to the the lads who produced excellent performances throughout the day. Thanks to James Stephens for hosting an excellent tournament and special thanks to both Mary Hogan and Claire Hayes for driving both Barry Hogan and Sean Hayes from Tipperary training to Kilkenny for the final. Also best wishes to both Billy McGrath and Dan O'Meara who suffered ankle injuries during the games.
The minor hurling championship is due to start on Wednesday 13th July with Newport, Moneygall/Clonakenny and Borris Ileigh making up the group.
