Under 21 ‘B’ Hurling North and County Champions 2004
Kiladangan 0-13 Arravale Rovers 2-6
The Guardian on 8 May 2004 described the final as a ‘game of true grit, some fast flowing hurling and very good scores’. It also noted that ‘it was not a place for the faint hearted’. The teams were level eight times during the course of the match. The North champions held a three point lead entering into the final five minutes and looked set for victory. Then popped up Arravale full forward Bernard O’Callaghan to send a rocket to the roof of the net. Level again, Darragh Egan and Timmy Dalton swapped points. Level once more. In the fourth minute of injury, Paddy Lynch zig zagged his way through the Arravale cover and shot over the winning point. The final whistle. Screams of jubilation. Paddy Lynch the hero of the hour. The Guardian was impressed by several Kiladangan performances: Kieran Madden, Michael Slattery and Brian Forde for their unyielding defence, corner forward Enda McGrath ‘who worked like a demon’; Conor Hayes for a great second half; Paddy Lynch for a glorious winning point.
